Unai Emery on Aaron Ramsey

Unai Emery on Aaron Ramsey: Arsenal manager Unai Emery tells Aaron Ramsey to not focus on his contract situation.

Arsenal are in top form at the moment. The club is currently 4th in the Premier League, with 21 points from 9 games. After losing their first two games of the season, Arsenal are yet to drop points in the league.

Unai Emery’s side is level on points with Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea and city-rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Arsenal will aim for their 11th consecutive victory across all competitions tonight as they take on Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League.

Mesut Ozil starred for Arsenal in their game against Leicester on Monday night. The former German international scored a goal and assisted another, as Arsenal emerged 3-1 winners after trailing against the Foxes.

Unai Emery, however, has urged one of his midfielders, Aaron Ramsey to focus on his game, rather than the contract situation.

Unai Emery on Aaron Ramsey:

Aaron Ramsey captained Arsenal for their game against Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League earlier this week.

The Welsh midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season at Arsenal, as the talks for a new contract between both the sides failed. Ramsey insisted that he didn’t know the reason behind Arsenal not offering him a new contract.

However, Unai Emery, in his exclusive interview with Sky Sports, stated that Ramsey needs to focus on his performances on the pitch.

“My focus and his focus I want on the team,” said Unai Emery.

“It’s true that each player has individual contractual situations to speak with the club, but we need, separately, two things,” Emery stressed.

“For me it’s, and with Aaron it’s, very clear – our conversations. And also yesterday (Thursday’s game against Sporting Lisbon) he played with this commitment, with this behavior, with the focus to help the team. I am very happy with how he played against Sporting, individually and collectively.”

Unai Emery insisted that the contractual situation is of importance, but that Ramsey should confine within the club.

“Aaron and the club can speak and he can think for his individual contract with the club and with his thinking maybe of the possibility that he won’t continue here. But, for me, for us and for the team, it’s about being together and getting better and in each training for us,” stated the Arsenal manager.
