Quite recently, Riot released the new Radiant Entertainment System bundle which has caused quite a stir in the Valorant community. Why? Because creators have been divided in terms of their opinions on the skin line. Some have complimented the skin’s animations, colors, and kill effects while others strongly do not like the price point of the skin. This bundle is the most expensive out of any other Valorant bundle release so far. Coming in at roughly $100.
Thus, a Youtuber by the name of salty maranugg made a video criticizing Riot’s recent bundle and their skin system in general. Take a look for yourself.
Valorant Player and Creator Voices his Concerns about Riot’s ‘cash-grab’ Skins: Youtube Comments Support the Gesture
The creator starts off the video by expressing that Valorant skins have always cost a lot of money. However, the recent bundle has changed that definition altogether. The Youtuber then goes off to say that the cheapest one can purchase the bundle is by combining two VP points packs, one with 9750 points and the other lot of 2175. This means that the Bundle roughly costs $106 USD.
Previously, the costliest bundle in the game was the Elderflame which roughly clocked in at around $95. In comparison, each skin of the new bundle costs 2975 VP which is not normal for any gun skin in the game. However, the point to nail home was the hype behind the bundle. In comparison to the other bundles in the game, salty maranugg explained how this bundle did not deserve the hype it got. They said, “The Radiant Entertainment System doesn’t even come close, they really didn’t deserve the hype they got through content creators. The Default skin looks like a children’s toy and the skin themselves sound tacky and light.”
Skin Inflation
They later went on to say that the concept was good but it did not deserve the on average $20 million Riot makes through a SINGLE skin bundle. Mentioning skin inflation, they also said that Riot has been secretly increasing the price of skins. You can check out the skin inflation video below.
They ended the video by proposing to the watchers of the video to not buy skins for the whole month of May, proclaiming it to be “No Money May.” They also criticized Riot and told the viewers to stand up to the horrendous skin prices. “Show Riot Games that they can’t treat us like idiots who will happily pour buckets of cash into their gold pile for some virtual cosmetics.”
