Valorant is a free-to-play game. However, it relies heavily on the in-game purchase of skins, bundles, and other goodies to keep it running. The primary currency in the game is VP. You can use it to buy various things such as gun skins, battle pass, and more. Another lesser-known currency, which might be in fact, rarer than VP is the Radianite Points. Why? Because these Points unlock the VFX and SFX of certain skins. The newest Radiant Entertainment System caused quite an uproar in the Reddit Valorant community about the ‘exploitive’ Radianite system. Let us discuss.
Valorant Reddit Discusses Riot Games’ Micro Transactions in Radianite System
The battle pass gives players 30 Points for completing it. However, these measly 30 points are not enough to completely upgrade even a single skin if one wants to take advantage of the effects. Ever since the new bundle was released, people are figuring out that locking the skin effects of the bundle behind Radianite Points is another ‘exploit’ of Riot to get money from players. How? You see, when you purchase a skin you only get the base version, to get the effect you purchased the skin for you need to upgrade it with Radianite Points.
Now, if you have been saving those Points for a while you won’t have that problem. However, if you haven’t been doing that, you will need to PURCHASE those points from the shop to upgrade the skin to get the effect you want. This means you have to make more microtransactions. People on Reddit are debating that the purchase of the skin itself should give everything rather than just the base model. This is a fair critique as those Radianite Points cost a lot.
While the bundles and skins can go up to $100 or more, it is a fair critique since players should get what they paid for immediately. The newest Radiant Entertainment System costs almost twice the price of a normal bundle. According to Reddit, this sheds light on Riot exploiting players ‘because people will drop HUNDREDS on these bundles and still not be able to use the effects of those skins out of the gate.’
