McMahon Family Furious
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Radio, said that this public display of promotion for the rival company from within would have surely not gone well in Stamford. He even said that “everyone in the McMahon family has got to be ungodly furious.”
The apparent shots taken at WWE by the AEW executive vice presidents, The Young Bucks and Cody Rhodes, only added to the WWE’s anger. The Young Bucks joked about the show’s attendance claiming that inflating it to the nearest round number was a normal occurrence that happened in wrestling. Cody on the other hand, attacked a throne of skulls with a sledgehammer in what was supposed to be a shot at HHH.
It will be interesting to see how WWE and Vince McMahon responds to the new company come Monday. Will the WWE respond with fire on Raw or let it slide like they’ve usually done for companies they don’t see as rivals (Read TNA and ROH). Regardless of what happens next, it cannot be denied that a new age of wrestling has dawned upon us.
