Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah to rest: The two key players are set to be rested for the upcoming tour of West Indies.

Indian cricket team is all set to travel to West Indies for a full tour after the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. The tour comprises of three T20Is, three ODIs and a couple of Test matches.

West Indies and India will play the first T20I on August 3 at Lauderhill. While the second T20I will be played at the same venue on the following day, the third one will be played at Guyana on August 6.

Starting from August 8, both the teams will play three ODIs withing a span of one week. The two Test matches will start from August 22 and 30 and will be played at North Sound and Kingston respectively.

Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah to rest

In a development which was on the expected lines, India captain Virat Kohli and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah are most likely to be rested for the limited-overs leg of the tour. While only this pair has been named, don’t be surprised if other senior players also get the same treatment.

“Virat [Kohli] and Jasprit [Bumrah] will certainly be rested for the three-match T20Is and three-match ODI series. Virat has been playing since start of Australia series and Bumrah’s workload management is also paramount. They will join the team before the Test series.

“With first Test in Antigua starting August 22, there would be enough time for the key members in the World Cup squad to get much needed rest,” a BCCI source was quoted as saying to PTI on the condition of anonymity.

In the last 12 months, Kohli and Bumrah have played 44 and 31 international matches across formats respectively. Other than Kohli, Rohit Sharma (47, most) and Shikhar Dhawan (46, joint second-highest) also fall in the list of Top 10 players with most matches played in the last 12 months.
