Virat Kohli: Cristiano Ronaldo is the most complete player I’ve seen

Virat Kohli: Cristiano Ronaldo is the most complete player I’ve seen. The Indian Skipper says that the Portuguese Ace inspires him.

Indian Skipper Virat Kohli is widely regarded as the best batsmen of the modern era and with good reason. He started 2019 by becoming the first man in history to simultaneously win all three major ICC awards – Cricketer of the Year, Test Player of the Year and ODI Player of the Year. Along with all these accolades he is on the path to conquer Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most ODI centuries along with a host of other records.

It is becoming evidently clear that he is miles ahead of his contemporaries. Others may have their opinion on who is the best in the world right now but the numbers he has racked up will show that when it comes to dominating all formats of International cricket, he is second to none.

In football however, the answer isn’t as cut clear. Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have both dominated the game and have created a divide amongst fans for over a decade. The Indian skipper though, who is an avid football fan himself, is very sure of who between the two is the better player.

Cristiano Ronaldo is on another level to everyone else

In an interview with FIFA.com, Virat Kohli lavished Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo with praises and hailed him as the best player in the world. He commended his work ethic and his commitment and desire to win.

“For me, Cristiano is above everyone else. His commitment and work ethic is unmatched. He wants it that bad – you can see it every game,” Kohli said.

When asked which one of Ronaldo or Messi has had a greater career, the Indian skipper replied:

“Ronaldo. In my opinion he has taken on more challenges and succeeded at all of them. He’s the most complete player I have seen and his work ethic, as I mentioned, is unmatched. He inspires people. I don’t think many people do that. He’s also a leader and I love that. Absolutely love it. He has amazing belief too.”

It is easy to see why Kohli prefers Ronaldo. In a lot of ways, they are both very similar. Both of them have the same drive to win every game they play. They are both also very confident and sure of their abilities. Kohli and Ronaldo are also very passionate on the field and have sometimes said or done things that have turned the media against them on occasions. However, they have both come out of it stronger all the time.
