Virat Kohli dismissal vs New Zealand: Watch Kyle Jamieson dismisses Indian captain in Wellington Test

Virat Kohli dismissal vs New Zealand: The Indian captain was out cheaply as the debutant pacer continued to make inroads.

During the first day of the first Test of the ongoing India’s tour of New Zealand in Wellington, debutant New Zealand fast bowler Kyle Jamieson made early inroads into the Indian batting lineup by dismissing the likes of Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli in quick succession.

Introduced into the attack as a second-change bowler in the 12th over, Jamieson made instant impact by dismissing Pujara (11) in only his third over.

With India losing opening batsman Prithvi Shaw (16) and Pujara in the first session, the onus was on Mayank Agarwal and captain Kohli to stage a rescue act.

However, Jamieson’s impressive debut saw him sending back Kohli in the 18th over. In what was a full delivery outside the off-stump, Kohli’s attempt to play a drive saw him edging the ball straight into the hands of veteran New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor at first slip.

Having scored 2 (7), Kohli was among the three Indian batsmen to get out before lunch. Kohli, who scored an unbeaten century in his last innings at the Basin Reserve in 2014, failed to get going, at least in the first innings today.

Earlier, it was New Zealand captain Kane Williamson who won the toss and invited India to bat first. The hosts included spinner Ajaz Patel for all-rounder Daryl Mitchell in their final XI.

As far as the visitors are concerned, Rishabh Pant was preferred as the first-choice wicket-keeper batsman over Wriddhiman Saha. Talking about the spinners, Ravichandran Ashwin pinned down Ravindra Jadeja to seal his spot for this match.
