Virat Kohli Injury Update: Watch Indian captain reveals the extent of his thumb injury after scoring 43rd ODI century

Virat Kohli Injury Update: The Indian captain was stuck on the thumb during the course of his 43rd ODI century vs West Indies.

During the third ODI of the ongoing India’s tour of West Indies at Port of Spain, India captain Virat Kohli scored his 43rd ODI century to successfully seal another chase for his team.

Chasing a 255-run target in 35 overs, Kohli came in to bat at No. 3 in the third over. Much like the last ODI Kohli shared a couple of vital partnerships to keep India in the match.

While a 66-run stand for the second wicket alongside opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan (36) laid the foundation, a 120-run stand for the fourth wicket alongside Shreyas Iyer (65) ended up being a game-changing partnership.

Citing the required run rate, Kohli made sure that India don’t lose track of the same. Kohli and Dhawan scoring 58/1 in the first powerplay called for an affirmative start by the visitors.

It was on the penultimate delivery of the 18th over when Kohli ran a single off West Indies all-rounder Roston Chase to complete his century. The penultimate delivery of the 31st over saw Kohli run a single off West Indies fast bowler Kemar Roach to register his second consecutive century of the series.

As India won the match in the 33rd over, Kohli remained unbeaten on 114* (99) with the help of 14 fours. Kohli gave India an injury scare when on the second delivery of the 27th over, he got beaten by extra bounce on Roach’s delivery. With the ball hitting his right thumb, the right-hand batsman was in severe pain and called for immediate medical attention.
