Virat Kohli has been synonymous with the Royal Challengers side ever since the very first edition of the Indian Premier League. The Chinnaswammy stadium has seen Kohli’s growth from a precocious talent to a world beater right in front of their eyes.

Now the RCB skipper, Kohli faces the prospect of not playing for his beloved Bengaluru side in the next IPL auction. In the mega auction that will take place before next year’s IPL, it is said that every player will up for grabs.

But several teams have asked the IPL if they could possibly retain some players, as they have invested a lot of time and money in building a brand around these players.

Kohli is a case in point here. After spending ten years with the franchise, Kohli’s departure from the RCB outfit would be a huge loss for the Bengaluru side.

Everything is in the air for now, as no details have emerged about the mega auction that will happen in a few months time.

At an event for the RPSG, Kohli was on stage with Sanjeev Goenka, the owner of the RPSG side. While Pune will not be taking part in next year’s IPL, Goenka could decide to co-own a franchise which would mean that he will back into the IPL.

Kohli was then asked if could possibly play for Goenka’s side next year, to which Kohli laughed and said that he had no idea.

“I don’t know… Mere ko kya pata? Yeh to unko pata hoga!”
