When the BBCI named Virat Kohli Captain for the 2-match T20 series against Ireland, it stirred the cricketing fraternity. The reason for that was that he is scheduled to feature for Surrey in a 4-day match against Yorkshire.

At the same time, India and Ireland are set to play 2 T20Is on June 27 and 29. This meant that there would be a clash between the T20I against England and Virat Kohli’s game for Surrey.

As per Surrey’s website as well, “Kohli will be available for all cricket throughout the month [of June] until the close of Surrey’s trip to Scarborough to face Yorkshire [June 25 to 28].”

This made the situation murky as to whether Kohli would value his national commitments over his stint for the County in Surrey or vice versa. As it is, he is already missing the one-off Test against Afghanistan to be played in Bengaluru.
However, as per his contract, Kohli is bound to give his services to Surrey. The County has cleared the air saying: “He’ll be playing for us in the Yorkshire game and will then be available for the second T20 in Ireland.”
Indian fans will now see Kohli in the 2nd T20I against Ireland on the 29th of June.
