When India wins, everything is going just fine with Virat Kohli’s astute captaincy traits. But, when India lose the match, the culprit is MS Dhoni.

These infamous critics keep circulating in the wake of India’s catastrophic failures which is deemed contrary to the spirit of the sport.

They say when you are not supporting the player in tough times, then don’t celebrate the player’s success. MSD has been cornered by many people.

VVS Laxman, the former Indian cricketer and a current commentator who is a keen observer of the game said that MS Dhoni should call curtains on his T20I career.

One of the matches that shed light on MSD’s recitals in T20Is is during the second T20I match against New Zealand. Many people felt that Dhoni couldn’t up the ante.

According to Laxman, MS Dhoni who comes in at No.4 requires time to settle down and to flex his muscles. During the previous match, Dhoni’s strike-rate was relatively low when compared to Virat Kohli who was striking the balls quite cleanly.

When the team is chasing a total that looks far, we expect both the batsmen to go have a go at the opposition. In Laxman’s case, MSD struggled to shoot things accordingly.

“In T20s, MS Dhoni’s role is at No 4. He requires more time to get his eye in and then do the job.

But today [Saturday] was a classic example because when Virat Kohli was batting, Dhoni had to give the strike to Kohli.

Kohli’s strike rate was 160, MS Dhoni’s strike rate was 80. That’s not good enough when India were chasing a mammoth total,” Laxman said in the post-match show.
