Aaron Finch scores 26 runs: The Australian captain went all-out against the Pakistani fast bowler at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

During the first T20I of the ongoing Pakistan’s tour of Australia in Sydney, Australia captain took the attack on Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Irfan in only his second over. Playing his first T20I after the ICC World Twenty20 2016 in India, Irfan wouldn’t have expected such a welcome on his comeback.

It all happened on the third over of the Australian innings when Finch hit a short delivery from Irfan over the leg-side boundary for a six. Attempting to deceive the batsman via a slower delivery, Irfan’s ploy didn’t work as Finch hit him between mid-wicket and mid-on for a boundary.

Other than conceding another boundary on the following delivery, Irfan overstepping meant that the batsman had a free-hit up his sleeve. Clearing his left leg for the second time in the over, Finch hit another six off Irfan on the free-hit.

Having leaked 21 runs off the first three deliveries, Irfan conceded another four on the penultimate delivery of the over as Finch hit a fuller delivery down the ground.

The rain-affected match called for Australia to score 119 runs in 15 overs. With the hosts scoring 41 runs in 3.1 overs, they had made an attacking start. Having said that, rain once again played spoilsport to abandon the match.

After Finch won the toss and put Pakistan in to bat first, the visitors scored 107/5 in 15 overs. Captain Babar Azam, who was leading Pakistan for the first time in a T20I, top-scored with 59* (38) with the help of five fours and two sixes. With bowling figures of 3-0-16-2, pacer Kane Richardson was the best bowler for Australia.
