Air quality abandons Sydney Thunder vs Adelaide Strikers match: The match was delayed due to unforeseen circumstances.

During the sixth match of the ongoing ninth season of the Big Bash League between Sydney Thunder and Adelaide Strikers in Canberra, poor air quality interrupted and eventually abandoned play in the second innings.
In what was an aftermath of the forest fires in Australia, a constant increase in the amount of smoke over the ground made the umpires to take the players off the field.
While the first innings was played under apt conditions, it was the second one which saw the smoke playing spoilsport.
Chasing a 162-run target, Thunder had scored 40/1 in 4.2 overs and held advantage in the match. However, a minimum of five overs need to be played to yield a result in a BBL match.
It was due to the same reason that Sydney captain Callum Ferguson expressed displeasure with the umpires. While Ferguson expected the umpires to continue the match till the fifth over was completed, umpires Paul Wilson and Sam Nogajski opined of the otherwise.
After Ferguson won the toss and invited the opposition in to bat, Strikers posted 161/5 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Coming in to bat at No. 5 in the 11th over, Jonathan Wells top-scored for his team with 55 (32) with the help of five fours and two sixes.
With bowling figures of 4-1-21-2, Daniel Sams was the pick of the bowlers for Thunder.

Umpire Paul Wilson via @FOXCricket: “I understand that the Thunder have four balls to go. We can’t take that into consideration. It’s about air quality. We would not have started (the match) like this” #BBL09 https://t.co/AXHhr7x5Bs

Huge blanket of smoke now covering Manuka Oval in Canberra, where Thunder are playing the Strikers in cricket’s Big Bash. Play is barely visible even on TV. Now they’re going off. Surely THAT’S got to get Morrison’s attention? #BBL09

“If you start an over you may as well finish it,” Mark Waugh not giving a shit about no-one being able to fucking see. #BBL09

Have they said if the issue is the visual aspect of the smoke, or the breathing in of the smoke? If it’s the latter shouldn’t all the cricketers be inside instead of wandering around outside?
