Aleem Dar amusingly sprints across: The renowned umpire put on display an entertaining run right before the first ball of the second session.

During the third day of the second Test of the ongoing New Zealand’s tour of Australia in Sydney, renowned umpire Aleem Dar became the source of entertainment for the crowd after he sprinted across the pitch to reach his position amidst loud roar from the crowd.

It all happened right after the first ball of the second session when Australia spinner Nathan Lyon was gearing up to bowl to debutant Glenn Phillips.

Having observed that Lyon was going to bowl with a leg-side heavy field, Dar decided to change his position from square leg to point. However, with Lyon almost ready to bowl the first delivery, Dar’s only option was to sprint across which he executed with full enthusiasm.

New Zealand, who played 29 overs without losing a wicket last evening, were bundled out for 251 in 95.4 overs by Australia on Day 3. Coming in to bat at No. 5 in the 50th over, Phillips top-scored for the Kiwis with his maiden Test half-century.

Before getting out in the 88th over, the right-hand batsman scored 52 (115) with the help of six fours and a six. With bowling figures of 30.4-10-68-5, Lyon was the pick of the bowlers for Australia.
