Alvaro Morata's hattrick

When news broke out that Alvaro Morata would be moving from Real Madrid this summer, a lot of clubs wanted to secure his service, with Chelsea and Manchester United being at the fore front of it all.

A young striker blessed with power, strength and technique, his move would have shaped up the Premier League race, and it is already proving so.

Manchester United had the option of buying him first, but negotiations fell off with Real Madrid, who wanted to secure the services of David De Gea, someone Manchester united weren’t letting go at any cost.

Morata was then destined to be reunited with his old manager in Antonio Conte at Chelsea.

Diego Costa was shrugged out of the club and Alvaro Morata was given the challenge of leading the club’s forward line and greeting them with bucketloads of goals throughout the season. And boy has he delivered!

Morata found his scoring boots early on in the season, but it was today, against Stoke City, that his entire repertoire was on display.

The first goal tonight was a lovely finish, as Morata was played one on one with the keeper and cooly slotted in under the legs of the keeper.

The second was the best of the lot, where he ran past the defence, beat them on pace and chipped the ball wonderfully over the keeper to score Chelsea’s third goal of the afternoon.

The third was a proper poacher’s goal, with Morata being at the right position at the right time to squeeze home Cesar Azpilicueta’s chest pass across the face of the goal.

Antonio Conte would be ecstatic that Morata could find form so early into the season and hasn’t taken too long to adjust to Premier League football.
