Watch Aubameyang miss a sitter against Angers in Arsenal’s pre-season friendly match against the French side

Arsenal have had a brilliant run in their pre-season thus far. They have won all but one game against Real Madrid. They led the game 2-0 before conceding a brace and eventually losing the match on penalties. The North London side travelled to France with a fairly young side to face French team Angers.

Arsenal found themselves in a tricky situation early on in the game conceding a goal in the 13th minute. It was not until the 25th minute before they could attempt a shot at goal, which went wide without even troubling the keeper. Arsenal almost lost the plot in the 38th minute when Angers found the back of the net. Fortunately for the Gunners, the referee called it an offside.

Arsenal Finally scored in the 50th minute to equalise. With almost 30 minutes left in the game, Unai Emery called in Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan with the duo almost combining for the late winner. However, Aubameyang failed to finish clean as the ball went into the crowd.

Aubameyang ran freely with the ball before passing it to Mkhitaryan on the left. The Armenian shot towards the goal but the keeper saved it before the ball landed at Aubameyang’s feet. With no keeper in sight and an empty goal to tap it in, the striker missed everything in sight.

The match went into penalties after ending 1-1 at full time. Arsenal prevailed 4-3 as they continue their glorious pre-season run. The Gunners’ will face Spanish Champions, Barcelona at the Camp Nou next. This time, they will likely bring their full squad, with Nicolas Pepe in the side perhaps. It’ll be interesting to see how he meshes with Lacazzete and Aubameyang.
