WATCH: Billy Stanlake's lethal bouncer hits Matthew Short in the shoulder in Sheffield Shield

Billy Stanlake’s lethal bouncer: Queensland’s fast bowler bowled some breathtaking deliveries in the morning at the Gabba.

During the 24th match of the ongoing season of the Marsh Shield between Queensland and Victoria in Brisbane, Queensland fast bowler Billy Stanlake bowled a lethal bouncer to Victoria batsman Matthew Short.

It all happened on the third delivery of the 22nd over when Stanlake’s pinpoint bouncer hit Short in his shoulder; right next to his neck. The batsman was immediately seen writhing in pain as non-striker and Victoria captain Peter Handscomb called for medical assistance.

Soon enough, Queensland’s fielder came to check on Short who recovered well after receiving medical attention. The 24-year old batsman resumed batting without being needed to leave the ground.

After Queensland captain Jimmy Pierson won the toss and elect to field, the visitors scored at a brisk rate despite losing wickets at regular intervals. At the time of writing this article, Victoria are nearing the 250-run mark, losing eight batsmen in the process.

Unperturbed by the blow, Short registered his ninth First-class half-century. Having scored 98 (112) with the help of 18 fours, Short is the highest run-scorer for Victoria at the moment.

Queensland fast-medium bowler Xavier Bartlett, who has picked four wickets since morning, was successful in sending back Short in the 52nd over.
