Watch: Bruno Fernandes scores his first goal for Man Utd with a Jorginho-esque penalty in the Premier League clash against Watford.
Manchester United and Watford have left the pitch at half-time with the score 1-0 in United’s favor. The Red Devils are coming off a 2-0 win over Chelsea in the Premier League. However, true to form, they failed to win against Club Brugge on Thursday, drawing 1-1.

United have struggled all through this campaign against sides they’re expected to roll through and for a large part of the first half, this was true. The hosts kept passing the ball sideways and failed to threaten the Watford defense despite an incredible showing from Daniel James.
The side finally made a breakthrough when Anthony Martial played Bruno Fernandes in. The Portuguese rushed into the box. However, Ben Foster came running and fouled Fernandes, giving a penalty in the process.
The responsibility was given to United’s January recruit. He calmly shot the ball but not before hopping in a manner similar to Chelsea’s designated penalty taker Jorginho, to send Foster the other way. This happens to be his first goal in a Manchester United shirt and the club’s first goal at Old Trafford in 235 minutes.

A win at Old Trafford will send United just behind Chelsea, who are currently sitting at 4th place. Only 3 points will separate the two sides as the race for the Champions League spots starts heating up. However, if City fail to overturn their Champions league ban, then a 5th place finish will be enough to send United to Europe’s premier competition instead.
