During the second day of the practice match between Derbyshire and Australia in Derby, two senior Australian batsmen in Steve Smith and David Warner were seen practicing together in the nets.
It all happened after Smith was dismissed cheaply in the match. Smith, who missed the third Test after coping a nasty blow from England fast bowler Jofra Archer, was playing in his first match after recovering from concussion.

Coming in to bat at No. 4 in the 57th over, Smith scored 23 (38) with the help of two fours before getting out. After walking back to the pavilion, Smith was soon seen walking towards the nets alongside Warner.
Soon enough, Smith received several throwdowns from Warner in the absence of batting coach Graeme Hick. It was only a few days ago that Smith had explained his unusual batting approach in the nets.
As far as the match is concerned, a collective effort from the Australian bowlers saw them bundling out Derbyshire for 172 in 57.2 overs. Before declaring their innings on 338/5 in 92 overs, the visitors had seen their Top three batsmen in Marcus Harris (64), Usman Khawaja (72) and Mitchell Marsh (74) scoring individual half-centuries.
Having lost the third Test in Smith’s absence, Australia would not be looking to make a comeback in the series at Old Trafford. Another victory will see them retaining the Ashes.
