During the second T20I of the ongoing England’s tour of New Zealand in Wellington, England opening batsman Dawid Malan hit a colossal six off New Zealand all-rounder James Neesham.
It all happened on the third delivery of the 10th over when Malan shuffled across to hit a Neesham delivery towards the mid-wicket. While the sound of the ball hitting the bat hinted the timing from Malan, the distance that the ball traveled confirmed the same.
With the ball landing over the roofs and going outside the stadium, Malan did entertain the crowd with his super shot. Opening the batting with Jonny Bairstow (0), Malan ended up scoring 39 (29) with the help of two fours and sixes each before getting out to New Zealand spinner Ish Sodhi in the 12th over.
Chasing a 177-run target, England were bundled out for 155 in the last over. With bowling figures of 4-0-25-3, New Zealand all-rounder Mitchell Santner was the pick of the bowlers for the home team. Apart from him, captain Tim Southee, fast bowler Lockie Ferguson and Sodhi picked up a couple of wickets each.
After England captain Eoin Morgan won the toss and put the hosts in to bat, New Zealand scored 176/8 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Neesham, who came in to bat at No. 7 in the 14th over in his first T20I in over two years, top-scored for the Kiwis with 42 (22) with the help of two fours and four sixes.
