WATCH: Fan camera captures Vettel’s embarrassing weighing scale fiasco
Sebastian Vettel has had a torrid and frustrating 2017 season, one where he has seen the championship drift away from him despite arguably having the quickest car on the grid.
Vettel has been guilty of committing silly errors all through the season, something that he nearly committed once more during qualifying yesterday in Brazil too, as he broke the weighing scale in one of the most bizarre moments of the 2018 season.
During Q2, Vettel was called in for a routine weight check in order to ensure that Ferrari were running legally and that is when the bizarre weighing scale incident took place.
Vettel was required to turn off the engine whilst on the weighing scale, so as to help the FIA get a correct measurement. However, Vettel did not quite do so and when he drove off he destroyed the weighing scales.
Vettel was actually in a hurry to get off the weighing scale as the weather was changing and the Ferrari man wanted to get on with it quickly.
“I think it’s better if I don’t say anything,” Vettel had said.
“I mean they shouldn’t call us when the conditions are changing like that, I think it’s unfair when somebody gets called in and yeah, I wanted them to hurry up.” he added.
A fan video has surfaced on social media today, displaying quite clearly how Vettel almost destroyed those weighing scales.

With the way the scales flew off from under Vettel’s car, do you think he deserved a grid penalty and not just a reprimand and a $25000 fine?
