Fox Sports raises question on Lokesh Rahul's catch

Fox Sports raises question on Lokesh Rahul’s catch: Lokesh Rahul’s match-winning catch has come under the clouds.

During the fifth day of the first Test match of India’s tour of Australia at Adelaide, India opening batsman Lokesh Rahul grabbed a catch at second slip to dismiss Australia vice-captain Josh Hazlewood.

It all happened on the penultimate delivery of the 120th over when Hazlewood edged a Ravichandran Ashwin delivery to Rahul. Hazlewood ended up scoring 13 (43) with the help of one four in a 32-run 10th wicket partnership along Australia off-spinner Nathan Lyon.

Hazlewood, being Australia’s last batsman, meant that his wicket would have put curtains on the match. Having grabbed the catch, Rahul and India celebrated their first Test victory in Australia after a decade.

Neither the umpire nor the batsman questioned the legality of the catch and things continued to move swiftly as they do post a cricket match.

However, Fox Sports took it to their Twitter account to post a video of the catch, asking the question regarding whether the catch was cleanly taken or not.

There shouldn’t have been any apprehension regarding the catch for it was a clean catch. With Fox Sports asking the question, it saw them on the receiving end of a plethora of criticising tweets, all of which advocated for the catch being clean.
