WATCH: Furious Vettel unhappy at not finishing Q3 ahead of Hamilton
Sebastian Vettel was up against it in qualifying today, as he had to ensure a pole position worthy lap in order to ensure a P4 start on Sunday, following the 3 place grid penalty that had been slapped on him for a red flag incident in FP1.
Vettel though was fired up for today and wanted to prove a thing after a series of poor results for Ferrari post the summer break.
And Vettel did dish out a couple of brilliant laps in Q3, however, it just wasn’t good enough to topple Hamilton off the top. Hamilton managed to secure pole position by 0.061 seconds and will be hoping to win the US GP tomorrow, with Vettel finishing 3rd or lower.
If that happens, Hamilton will be world champion for the 5th time.
Vettel was visibly upset that he couldn’t overcome the Mercedes dominance in qualifying, expressing his disappointment to his team over the radio.
Post qualifying, Vettel asked his team as to how close the qualifying was, and when his team informed that he missed out by 0.061 seconds, Vettel blurted out a series of expletives.
“By how much did we miss it?…F****k.” Vettel said on the radio.
Vettel will now have to drive out of his skin tomorrow in order to ensure that the title race goes to Mexico.

Ferrari would be hoping that things go a little awry for Mercedes and there is something to look forward to in the last 3 races.
Hamilton on the other hand would be hoping that everything goes out smoothly for him and Mercedes, so that the 5th world title celebrations can occur tomorrow itself.
