During the first day of the first semi-final of the ongoing 86th season of the Ranji Trophy between Gujarat and Saurashtra in Rajkot, Saurashtra opening batsman Kishan Parmar was on the fortunate side of the game as he got a reprieve after getting out.
It all happened on the first delivery of the eighth over when Parmar’s attempt of defending a ball outside the off-stump off Gujarat pacer Chintan Gaja saw him edging it to the first slip fielder.
Parmar, who had started to walk off on the back of a clear dismissal, was stopped by the umpires who wanted to check for a potential no-ball.
It was evident from the replays that Gaja had overstepped which led to Parmar resuming his innings in the all-important match.
At the time of writing this article, Parmar and Harvik Desai stitched together a 50-run opening partnership as they successfully countered the threat possessed by the visiting fast bowlers.
Earlier, it was Gujarat captain Parthiv Patel who won the toss and invited Saurashtra in to bat. While Gujarat had topped the elite cross pool on the back of winning five out of their eight matches, Saurashtra entered the quarter-finals after finishing as the fourth-ranked team in the same pool.
