WATCH: KL Rahul's sublime six off Alzarri Joseph in Cuttack ODI

KL Rahul’s sublime six: The Indian opening batsman hit an awe-inspiring shot against the West Indian fast bowler in Cuttack.

During the third ODI of the ongoing West Indies’ tour of India in Cuttack, India opening batsman Lokesh Rahul continued his top form to score his fifth ODI half-century.

Opening the batting with vice-captain Rohit Sharma (63), the duo shared a 122-run opening partnership to lay a sound foundation in a 316-run chase. Sharma and Rahul playing risk-free cricket was the highlight of their partnership.

The pinnacle of Rahul’s innings was a six which he hit on the penultimate delivery of the 28th over as he flicked a delivery from West Indies pacer Alzarri Joseph over the deep square leg region for a sublime six. Despite applying minimal effort, Rahul clear the boundary by some distance.

While there was a century for taking for the 27-year old player, he missed out on the opportunity as he gloved a Joseph delivery to West Indies wicket-keeper Shai Hope. Before getting out in the 30th over, Rahul ended up scoring 77 (89) with the help of eight fours and a six.

After India captain Virat Kohli won the toss and invited the opposition in to bat, West Indies posted 315/5 in 50 overs on the back of individual half-centuries from batsman Nicholas Pooran (89) and captain Kieron Pollard (74*). The duo sharing a 135-run stand for the fifth wicket played a pivotal role in West Indies crossing the 300-run mark.
