The KFC Big Bash League has produced some nail biting thrillers so far and it was no different when Perth Scorchers squared off against Adelaide Strikers in the 51st match of the competition. The valiant efforts of Liam Livingstone went in vain as the Adelaide Strikers’ bowlers held their nerves and ensured a comfortable 16 runs victory in the end.
In a bid to chase 182, Perth Scorchers didn’t got off to a perfect start but Livingstone kept them in the chase with some sensible batting and brutal hitting. Livingstone’s knock was studded with a solitary four and 7 sixes including a 106 m six of the bowling of pacer Michael Nesser. It was just the 2nd over of the innings when Livingstone got a delivery right in his arc and he smoked it right over the long on region for a monstrous six.

The ball went sailing over the ropes and the Livingstone kept plundering the Adelaide Strikers bowlers all around the park. He looked in sensational touch and looked determined to get the Scorchers over the line. However Man of the Match Wes Agar provided his breakthrough in the 16th over and there was no way back for the Scorchers.
From there on, the bowlers tightened the screws and managed to restrict the Scorchers to just 165. Wes Agar was the pick of the bowlers with 3/36 while Billy Stanlake also chipped in with a couple. Scorchers need to win their final group game to ensure a direct entry into the playoffs. On the other hand, Adelaide Strikers are sitting pretty at the 3rd position with 8 victories under their belt.
Earlier in the day it was Adelaide Strikers who won the toss and batted first. The top order looked in command of proceedings and made light work of the Perth Scorchers bowling attack. Philip Salt looked in ominous touch and smashed 7 fours and a couple of sixes en route to his knock of 59 of just 31 deliveries. Jake Weatherald and Alex Carey also chipped in with valuable knocks.
