Lucas Torreira wins the ball twice

Lucas Torreira wins the ball twice within 16 seconds during the Premier League game against Liverpool on Saturday.

Arsenal have been impresive this season under Unai Emery. After a poor start to the season, the Gunners regained pace and haven’t lost since their second game of the season to Chelsea.

Arsenal have drawn only one game since the game at Stamford Bridge, which speaks levels about their consistency in this season.

In the previous weekend’s game against Liverpool, Arsenal played an impressive 1-1 draw, with Alexandre Lacazette scoring a late equalizer. The Gunners, however, are currently 5th in the league and a point behind their city rivals Tottenham Hotspur, who won against Wolverhampton last weekend.

Lucas Torreira has been terrific for Arsenal since the club signed him earlier this summer. The defensive midfielder has been key to Arsenal’s current unbeaten run this season, and against Liverpool, he executed his skills to perfection as he regained the ball twice within 15 seconds.

Lucas Torreira wins the ball twice in 15 seconds:

The Uruguayan was the best player for Arsenal throughout the game, but his personal highlight of the game came in the first half, during a Liverpool attack.

A misplaced past was intercepted efficiently by Torreira as he prevented Mohamed Salah from winning the ball with a perfect sliding tackle. However, when Liverpool did win the ball a few seconds later, Torreira was at his feet again and dispossessed Sadio Mane with an accurate challenge to win the ball back.

With each passing game, Torreira looks like a steal for the Gunners. Arsenal signed the midfielder for 25m euros, after his impressive performances for the national team in the World Cup in Russia.

In his short time at Arsenal, he has already proved to be the most important player in the midfield for the Gunners.

Here is the video of Torreira’s impressive challenges on Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane:

What next?

Arsenal will now host Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League group stage encounter, after which they return to the Premier League to face Wolverhapton Wanderers.
