Team India completed a historic series triumph last night, as Virat Kohli’s men became the first Indian side to win the win a bilateral series in South Africa.
India has dominated this series, as the bowling unit, especially the spinners, have been sensational in the five ODIs. Their ever dependable top three of Rohit, Dhawan and Kohli once again scored the bulk of the runs , with all of them notching up the three figures mark on at least one occasion.
But it was their bowling that won them the series, as the spin-duo of Chahal and Kuldeep were mesmerizing in South Africa. The pair picked up up 31 wickets between them, the South Africans did not have any idea on how to play them.
Only for a brief spell under lights at Johannesburg, when the ball was wet and slippery did the South Africans attack the spinner with conviction, but other than that it was pretty much one way traffic.
There was interesting incident that occurred in last night’s match, as Dhoni was once again heard instructing the bowlers during overs. At one point, Dhoni told Chahal to expect a sharp return catch, as Miller was trying to hit the ball very hard.
As expected, Miller smashed the ball straight to Chahal, but the spinner could not hold on to the catch, and subsequently dropped it!
It was just another one of the many conversations that was picked up on the stump mic. The snippets of conversations among the Indian players have been a highlight of the tour, as cricket fans have gotten access to a previously unheard part of the matches.
