Navdeep Saini reacts aggressively: Royal Challengers’ fast bowler didn’t seem to like the sight of a batsman celebrating after hitting him for a six.
During the seventh match of the 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians in Bengaluru, Mumbai Indians all-rounder Hardik Pandya was seen celebrating animatedly after hitting a six off Royal Challengers Bangalore fast bowler Navdeep Saini.
It all happened on the third delivery of the penultimate over when Pandya hit a short delivery from Saini over deep mid-wicket for a huge six.
Coming in to bat at No. 7 in the 17th over, Pandya didn’t take much time before finding his rhythm. Having hit his first six, the right-hand batsman seemed to not control hi excitement.
Saini, who was at the receiving end of the celebration, didn’t shy away from reacting to Pandya in a similar manner. While the right-arm pacer would have thought of dismissing Pandya to take revenge, it wasn’t the case eventually. Saini leaked 40 runs without taking a wicket in the four overs that he bowled.
Pandya’s 14-ball 32* inclusive of two fours and three sixes powered Indians to 187/8 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Opening the batting with Quinton de Kock (23), MI captain Rohit Sharma was their highest run-scorer with 48 (33) with the help of eight fours and a six.
Despite legendary batsman AB de Villiers scoring a brilliant 70* (41) with the help of four fours and six sixes, Royal Challengers fell short by 6 runs as another legend in Lasith Malinga defended 17 runs successfully in the last over.
Having registered bowling figure of 4-0-20-3, Mumbai spearhead Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of their bowlers at a venue which generally favours the batsman.
