A tantalising rivalry is brewing in the world of badminton. PV Sindhu and Nozomi Okuhara have forged a rivalry between themselves, something that promises to live on till the end of their careers.

Two weeks back in the World Championships, Okuhara edged past Sindhu, leaving Sindhu heartbroken. Sindhu had now twice faltered on the big stage(Olympics and World Championships), coming so close to glory but missing out by fine margins. And while that could have bogged down a lot of athletes, Sindhu took inspiration from that World Championships loss.

Today when she stepped on court, it seemed as if she was ready for revenge. The ruthlessness was there, the killer instinct was palpable and Sindhu looked ready for a gnawing fight.

The match lived up to the expectations, dishing out moments of brilliance from both players, and rallied to die for.

Both players displayed exemplary skills at the net, using deft touch, angles and under spin to draw each other to the net and then open up the court.

While Okuahar used her stepping to great effect, Sindhu was able to use her height and reach to neutralise all of Okuhara’s attacks.

The final point was as tantalising and painful as all others. Both players taking each other to the limit, not giving in and fighting till the shuttle dropped.

PV Sindhu fell to the ground as soon Okuhara hit the shuttle out, gasping for breath, soaking in the occasion, the praise and all that there was.

Sindhu became the first Indian to win the Korea Super Series.
