Starting the day at 28/3, India needed Pujara and Rohit to put up a big partnership to drag India back into the match.
After a brilliant start to the first day, India have somehow managed to find itself in a big hole at the start of the second play. South Africa’s four pronged pace attack were terrific in the last session yesterday, and were expected to perform even better on the second day.
Both Pujara and Rohit tried to survive rather than score runs in the first session, as the Indian pair tried to hang in there and put in a partnership. But KG Rabada proved to be too good for Rohit, as South Africa’s premier bowler bowled a beauty to knock over Rohit.
Bowling close to 145 kmph, Rabada got the ball to nip back in and trap Rohit in front of the stumps. Rohit was extremely disappointed, as he knew that he wasted a terrific opportunity to cement his place in the starting XI.
In the dressing room, captain Kohli looked downcast, as he knew that India faced an uphill task to remain in the game.
