Daniel Ricciardo was a frustrated man after he was forced to retire from the Mexico GP during the dying stages of the race following a clutch failure(which was confirmed later by Red Bull).

While Ricciardo refrained from blurting anything out on the team radio post his retirement, he did take a massive dig at Red Bull in the interviews that followed, labelling the car as ‘cursed’ and admitting that he was done with the team.

The statements from Ricciardo showed how sour the relationship between Ricciardo and Red Bull had gotten this season.

Ricciardo has suffered 8 DNFs this season, sometimes due to an engine issue and sometimes due to a problem with the Red Bull package itself(like in Mexico).

Now, in a footage that has surfaced on social media, Ricciardo’s cursed car was on fire after he had turned it off and left for the garage.

It was weird that there was fire so long after Ricciardo has turned the car off, as instructed by his race engineer. Maybe the car is cursed, as Ricciardo believes.

According to the radio messages between Vettel, Hamilton and their engineers(who were chasing Ricciardo at that point), there was definitely some smoke coming out of Ricciardo’s car right before he retired.

“Smoke coming from his car” Vettel had said over his radio

Hamilton too was told to watch for oil spillage as they had suspected that Ricciardo had a PU issue.

In the background of the video you can see Ricciardo taking a final look of the car and punching the air.
