During the 22nd match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 between India and Pakistan at Old Trafford, India opening pair of Lokesh Rahul and Rohit Sharma were involved in massive miscommunication which gave Pakistan a simple chance of running out Sharma.
Eventually, it was a narrow escape for India’s vice-captain as Pakistan opening batsman Fakhar Zaman threw the ball at the wrong end.
It all happened on the first ball of the 10th over when Rahul played a Wahab Riaz delivery on the leg-side. While Sharma was interested in running the second run (which didn’t exist), Rahul refusing the same saw the confusion take place.
Having collected the ball cleanly, all Zaman had to do was throw the ball to captain Sarfraz Ahmed at the striker’s end. While a fielder did throw the ball back to Ahmed but it was too late by that time as the batsman had made his crease.
At that point, India were 47/0. Having received the reprieve, Sharma went on to register his 24th ODI century. Talking about the opening stand, Rahul and Sharma went on to register a magnificent 136-run partnership.
Before getting out to Pakistan fast bowler Hasan Ali in the 39th over, Sharma ended up scoring 140 (113) with the help of 14 fours and three sixes.

And a chance for Rohit Sharma. Rahul wanted a second but sent his partner back. Luckily, Fakhar Zaman threw it at the bowler’s end. #INDvsPAK

Don’t blame Fakhar Zaman for that run-out. Air-space was closed at Rohit Sharma’s end. #IndiaVsPakistan
