Sadio Mane has been a key part of Liverpool’s campaign this season. Naturally, he had to give a thumbs-down to Man Utd fans asking for Koulibaly.

Sadio Mane is currently on international duty with Senegal.

The winger has been a significant part of Liverpool’s attack ever since joining the club from Southampton three years ago.

The front-three of Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah is regarded as one of the most dangerous attacking trios in European football. The trio steered Liverpool’s run to the Champions League final last season, and is still going strong this season as the club aims for its first-ever Premier League title.

And so, it is natural for Sadio Mane to dismiss any favours for Liverpool’s rivals, even if the request for a favour is made by Senegal’s fans. The rivals, in this case, are Manchester United.

No Koulibaly, says Sadio Mane!

During international duty, the Liverpool winger interacted with Senegal’s fans.

A section of fans held a banner with Kalidou Koulibaly in a Manchester United shirt. With the picture was a message, which read, “Koulibaly, Come to United.”

Mane saw the banner and immediately began showing a thumbs-down.

Well, obviously, the Liverpool winger won’t want Kalidou Koulibaly to join Liverpool’s most celebrated domestic rivals, would he?

Koulibaly has emerged as one of the best defenders in Europe over the past few seasons. He has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United over the summer, but no deal was put on the place by the Old Trafford outfit.

There might have been a managerial change over the course of the season at Manchester United, but the defensive flaws remain at the club.

The defender broke silence over his increasing demand in the transfer market.

“I’m delighted that many teams follow me but I want to demonstrate on the field to be at the level of the greatest,” Koulibaly said.

“I do not know if I’m one of the strongest defenders in the world, I always try to give my best.

“Since I’m here, I want to grow up with Napoli, I have a lot of motivation to go on and I want to keep doing that.”

Mane, however, could pursue Koulibaly to move to Merseyside instead. Imagine a centre-back pairing of Virgil van Dijk and Kalidou Koulibaly.. frightening.

What next?

Sadio Mane will feature for Senegal against Madagascar in the African Cup of Nations qualifying game on March 22.
