WATCH: Sudip Chatterjee survives despite getting hit-wicket off Ronit More in Bengal vs Karnataka Ranji semi-final

Sudip Chatterjee survives: The Bengali batsman received a reprieve after getting out hit-wicket in the second innings.

During the third day of the second semi-final of the ongoing 86th season of the Ranji Trophy between Bengal and Karnataka in Kolkata, Bengal batsman Sudip Chatterjee received his share of luck after he survived despite getting out hit-wicket off Karnataka pacer Ronit More.

It all happened on the first delivery of the 30th over when Chatterjee went on the back foot to play a More delivery towards the fine leg. The southpaw’s attempt to use his crease saw his back foot hitting the stumps and dislodging the bails.

While the same was evident after the bails fell down, the umpires’ attempt to watch the replays saw them noticing that More had overstepped.

Despite surviving against More on this occasion, Chatterjee was found wanting in front of the stumps in the following over bowled by More. Having scored 45 (94) with the help of eight fours, Chatterjee top-scored for Bengal in the second innings.

Karnataka fast bowler Abhimanyu Mithun registered bowling figures of 16-4-23-4 to play a vital role in bundling out Bengal for 161 in 54.4 overs.

Having grabbed a pivotal 190-run in the first innings, Bengal have set a 352-run target in front of the visiting team. While Bengal seamer Ishan Porel dismissed Karnataka opening batsman Lokesh Rahul (0) in the first over, Ravikumar Samarth and Devdutt Padikkal have stitched a 50-run partnership for the second wicket.
