Vivek Singh: Watch Bengal batsman scores first century of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021 vs Jharkhand

Vivek Singh: The left-hand batsman from Bengal scored his maiden T20 century at the Eden Gardens today.

During an Elite Group B match of the ongoing 12th season of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy between Jharkhand and Bengal in Kolkata, Bengal opening batsman Vivek Singh scored his maiden T20 century to also bring up the first century of the season.

Opening the batting with wicket-keeper batsman Shreevats Goswami (27), Vivek remained unbeaten throughout the innings to propel Bengal to 161/6 in their allotted quota of 20 overs after captain Anustup Majumdar won the toss and chose to bat.

In an innings which witnessed the left-hand batsman scoring all around the park, Vivek made it a point to impress the IPL scouts at the Eden Gardens. From scoring quickly initially against the fast bowler, Vivek treated the the spinners similarly.

The highlight of the 27-year old batsman’s innings was him playing pacers the down the ground and being innovative to find gaps between square leg and short fine leg. In a shot which he played thrice, Vivek found the gap on every single time.

It was on the fourth delivery of the last over when Vivek ran a single off Jharkhand pacer Monu Kumar to reach his century. Having scored 100* (64) with the help of 13 fours and three sixes, Vivek was easily the pick of the batsmen today.

Having reduced Jharkhand to 145/9 in 20 overs on the back of Ishan Porel and Writtick Chatterjee picking three and two wickets respectively, Bengal won the match by 16 runs.
