WATCH: Suresh Raina takes a blinder to dismiss Gunathilaka
The Indian team would have been itching to get onto the field today against Sri Lanka, after that shock loss in the first match of the Nidahas Trophy.
With that thumping win over Bangladesh in the 2nd match of the tournament, and Sri Lanka’s loss against Bangladesh on Saturday, Indian went into this game as favourites.
And while Sri Lanka started the game with a bang, getting 11 off the first two balls, Shardul Thakur pegged Sri Lanka back, dismissing Gunathilaka in the 3rd over.
But the wicket belonged to Thakur as much as it did to Raina, who plucked a blinder out of thin air, flying towards his left to get India that much needed break through.

Match Situation
With Gunathilaka back in the hut and Kusal Perera playing on in the next over against Washington Sundar, India now have the advantage in the game.
Perera who has dominated both the Indian and the Bangladeshi bowlers in the first tw games, brought out the reverse sweep early on against Sundar, but the ball gripped a little in the surface, also bouncing a little more, to hit Perera on the glove and then roll onto the stumps.
With rain around, India had elected to field first and with Sri Lanka already having lost two of their most explosive batsmen(and missing Chandimal in the middle order), India would be hoping to romp to a win in this important fixture.
