Heading into the fifth day of the third test match, Virat Kohli must have expected his bowlers to knock over the Sri Lankan bowlers in no time.
But the Sri Lankan batsmen proved to be made up of sterner stuff on a fifth day track that did not give much assistance to the Indian bowlers.
Jadeja and Ashwin hardly got an purchase from the Kotla pitch as the duo tirelessly tried to extract something from the pitch.
De Silva led the way for the Lankans as his 119 held the innings together. He had to eventually leave the ground due to an injury but not before he put Sri Lanka in a strong position to save the test match.
De Silva was given great support by first Chandimal and then Roshen as the Lankans thwarted every attempt by the Indian bowlers.
In the midst of the innings, Kohli tried desperately to rev up the crowd as he started to vigorously clap his hands in the slip cordon. Pujara joined him followed by the rest of the tam and then the crowd as everyone tried to pump the bowlers up.
But unfortunately it did not do much to change the game!
