Messi no-look nutmeg: A new video of Lionel Messi’s nutmeg on Atletico Madrid’s Filipe Luis has surfaced on the internet.

Barcelona played a 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid at Wanda Metropolitano on Saturday night. Ousmane Dembele scored a late goal to salvage the draw for Barcelona.

Barca, however, slipped to second position in La Liga as Sevilla won their game against Real Valladolid to take the top position in the table. Valverde’s side, however, is only point behind the league leaders.

Lionel Messi shined for the Catalan side again, as he assisted Dembele for the only goal Barca scored. The Argentine also made headlines for a ridiculous no-look nutmeg against Filipe Luis early in the first half.

The passage of play didn’t go unnoticed as the Barca fans cheered Messi, and many took to Twitter to express their surprise by the sheer genius of the Argentine star. However, a new video is now posted from a different angle, which only adds to the beauty of Messi’s amazing skills.

Messi no-look nutmeg:

Messi jumped high to cushion up his header, and ran to retrieve the ball after he took much of the pace off it. However, as he saw defenders coming through all the possible spaces, he had no alternative but to nutmeg Filipe Luis, which he did with absolute perfection.

The Argentine attacker eventually passed the ball to a fellow Barcelona teammate. The skill, because of its obvious consequences on Filipe Luis, didn’t go unnoticed inside the stadium as Barcelona crowd applauded Messi’s genius.

Here’s the new, slow-mo angle to the video:

In September earlier this year, Filipe Luis spoke in length against the decision to exclude Lionel Messi from the FIFA Best Player of the Year nominee list.

“The award is for the best player in the world. For me, today, it’s Messi. Just like in previous years,” Luis said.

“When he’s not there, it loses credibility. It doesn’t matter who wins the World Cup or the Champions League. He’s the best.”
