Dhoni opens up after CSK clinch IPL 2018

CSK Captain MS Dhoni gave us an insight into the workings of CSK and Dhoni as an individual.

Players came in and went all throughout this 9-year stint of Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. However, one man was a constant. He is none other than MS Dhoni. Dhoni has been so closely associated with the success of the Chennai Super Kings that he has almost become synonymous to the franchise.

If you keenly observe, the two teams that qualified to the finals probably had the two best Captains leading them. While Kane Williamson led SRH in the absence of David Warner, Dhoni was at his best this season and took CSK to a victory.

When he was invited to share his thoughts after the CSK won the title, he was his cool self as usual. When Sanjay Manjeraker asked about how the team plans to celebrate the win, Dhoni said, “No plans as of now. We go to Chennai tomorrow. Irrespective of the result, that was the plan. Go to Chennai, meet the fans and those close to the team. But we’ll have a get together in the hotel and enjoy the evening. ”

Earlier Dhoni had expressed regret over the fact the team could not play its home matches in Chennai.

In the pre-match press conference ahead of the Final between CSK and SRH at the Wankhede stadium Dhoni said:

“The emotional aspect was more at the start of the tournament. Once the tournament starts you have to be more professional. I was saddened that we couldn’t play our home matches in Chennai but I was still happy that we played at least one match.”

CSK will now lock horns with SRH for the IPL 2018 Final at the iconic Wankhede stadium in Mumbai. If CSK clinch the match, it would be their 3rd title victory.
