The Ivan Perisic saga is set to come to an end after Croatian boss Ante Cacic claimed that the winger is set to sign a new deal that would extend his stay at Inter Milan.
In spite of multiple bids being rejected by the Inter Milan board, reports had claimed that Mourinho was still interested in bringing the 28-year-old to Old Trafford and there were reports of a possible final bid from the United Board.
However, Cacic has reasons to believe that Perisic will remain in Italy this season.
“I spoke to Ivan Perisic, he is happy at Inter,’ Cacic said ahead of Croatia’s World Cup qualifier against Kosovo on Saturday.
‘The coach [Luciano Spalletti] appreciates him, they are preparing a new contract for him.’ he added, which has more or less extinguished all the ‘Perisic to United’ rumours that has circled around the entire summer.
Manchester United has got off to a great start , winning their first 3 league matches of the season. And in such a thrilling fashion that has got the Old Trafford crowd up to it’s feet.
In the three games they played against West Ham, Swansea and Leicester, United scored 10 goals and kept 3 clean sheets, and are at the top of the league prior to the international break.
However, it is no secret that United boss Mourinho wants to add a fourth signing, preferably a winger, before the transfer market closes.
In spite of Martial and Rashford being in brilliant form since the commencement of the season, Mourinho is reportedly a big fan of the talented winger’s adventurous and innovative gameplay and had asked Woodward to mark Perisic as a top priority target as he looks to complete the squad he started constructing an year ago that could challenge for the title at all fronts.
However , after the latest comments, it looks like the Reds are set to miss out on Perisic should he sign a new contract with the Serie A outfit. If he does, it will be great news for the Nerazzurri as Perisic has been in stunning form and has contributed in all of Inter’s goals so far this season.
Real Madrid will also be in alert in the event of Perisic signing a new contract, as United could step up their pursuit for Real Madrid misfit Gareth Bale.
