Ajax and Chelsea had a rather tame encounter in their first leg. However, their return clash was pure madness. Chelsea left the field at half-time having conceded 3 goals in the champions league for the first time in their history despite Ajax having registered only one shot on target!

Tammy Abraham and Kepa’s own goals along with Quincy Promes clever strike left Ajax with an overwhelming advantage at the end of the first half. However, Chelsea launched a brilliant comeback to draw the match 4-4.
The Blues were also aided by the double-booking Ajax received that sent both their centre backs in a matter of seconds. At the end, the draw was a fair result despite both clubs believing that they should have come out on top.
Wild spectacle but no Ajax fans to witness it
Chelsea displayed incredible resilience to level the scores despite being down and out at 4-1 by the 55th minute. Ajax’s resolve on the other hand showed when they bought the fight back to the hosts despite being down to just 9 men.
While Chelsea fans enjoyed the spectacle at Stamford Bridge, there was no sign of support from the Ajax fans. In fact, the entire away stand was completely empty and had to be covered by a banner. Not a single Ajax fan made it to the fixture.

What was the reason behind the absence of Ajax fans at the Stamford Bridge vs Chelsea last night?
The reason why there were no Ajax fans present to witness the thrilling encounter is because the Dutch club were banned from selling their allocation for the fixture. Ajax fans were banned from attending the fixture after inciting crowd trouble in their game against Valencia at the Mestalla earlier this season.
It is for this reason that fans had been advised to bring a photo ID with them to their game. The ban comes after Ajax were handed a suspended sentence for a similar disturbance during their Champions League clash against Benfica last season. The Eredivisie champions Ajax were also fined a sum of £43,200.
