Man Utd Transfer News: Aaron Wan-Bissaka transfer to Old Trafford accelerates after huge breakthrough

Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s transfer to Manchester United edges closer after agreement with Crystal Palace.

Manchester United have agreed a deal with Crystal Palace for the right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The Red Devils will pay £55 million for his services, making him the costliest full-back in the planet currently.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will make his second signing of the transfer window, after the acquisition of Daniel James from Swansea City. With Ashley Young and Diogo Dalot at current disposal, Aaron Wan-Bissaka would walk into the starting eleven at Old Trafford.

The 21-year-old was one of the best full-backs in the league last season after breaking through the academy. He has impressed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, whose club has already agreed a £55 million deal, according to Duncan Castles.

Along with Manchester City, United have bought their full-backs for a transfer record fee for full-backs. Wan-Bissaka has cost them £55 million, whilst Luke Shaw is then record fee with £30 million price tag.

The English Under-21 made his Crystal Palace debut on January 2018 and has concreted his name in the starting lineup ever since then and has not looked back. He started 38 games last season in all competitions and was credited with four assists.

He is not known for his bursting attacking runs, but possesses astute defensive qualities. Since Roy Hodgson likes to sit back and invite pressure, Wan-Bissaka has very minimal chances of possessing a threat in the final third. Under Solskjaer, that element could change because he likes to push his full-backs higher up the pitch.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka will not be the costliest defender of the summer transfer window, as Bayern had already struck an 80 million deal with Atletico Madrid for Lucas Hernandez. The French International is a versatile defender, but he opts to play through the left centre-back position.

Here’s how Twitter has reacted..

What’s next?

Should the signing of Wan-Bissaka be wrapped up, Solskjaer will shift his attention to centre-back, which needs strengthening too.
