Robin Uthappa and Kuldeep Yadav not playing vs Sunrisers

Robin Uthappa and Kuldeep Yadav not playing vs Sunrisers: Kolkata Knight Riders have benched their senior duo of vs SRH.

During the 38th match of the ongoing 12th season of Indian Premier League between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders at Hyderabad, Kolkata Knight Riders have benched their senior duo of Robin Uthappa and Kuldeep Yadav.

The development has come as a massive one for the visitors who have made the changes in a bid to put a halt to their four-match losing streak.

Other than Uthappa and Yadav, KKR have also benched fast bowler Prasidh Krishna. Batsman Rinku Singh, mystery spinner KC Cariappa and left-arm fast bowler Prithvi Raj have been included as replacements. While Rinku and Cariappa have played for KKR in the past, Prithvi Raj will be seen making his debut today.

“We have to make the most of it when asked to bat first. We have made three changes to the team, and those players will bring in a breath of fresh air. Big game for us, two big teams playing,” Knight Riders captain Dinesh Karthik said about the changes made to the side.

Uthappa and Yadav’s mediocre numbers

In the nine matches which Uthappa has played in IPL 2019, he has scored 220 runs at an average of 31.42 and a strike rate of 119.56 including a half-century. Him scoring 9 (20) in a 214-run chase in the last match against Royal Challengers Bangalore saw him at the receiving end of massive criticism.

Talking of Yadav, he dismissed mere four batsmen in nine matches at an average of 71.50, an economy rate of 8.66 and a strike rate of 49.50. On the other hand, Krishna was successful in dismissing two batsmen in the same number of matches at an average of 156, an economy rate of 9.17 and a strike rate of 102.
