Why Ravindra Jadeja is not playing today: Chennai Super Kings all-rounder has been rested for the 44th match of IPL 2019 vs MI.
During the 44th match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians at Chennai, Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has not been included into their playing XI.
Having played every match for CSK in the season so far, Jadeja will miss his first match. As far as Jadeja’s replacement is concerned, Super Kings have included like-for-like replacement in the form of New Zealand all-rounder Mitchell Santner.
What has come as a bigger setback for Chennai is the fact that they will be playing without their regular captain in Mahendra Singh Dhoni. It is understood that both Jadeja and Dhoni are down with fever.
Among the other changes which Chennai have made to their squad is include a couple of batsmen in Murali Vijay and Dhruv Shorey. The hosts have also benched opening batsman Faf du Plessis.
In Dhoni’s absence, vice-captain and senior batsman Suresh Raina will lead the side against Mumbai Indians. “Wicket looks the same like the last game. Dew could be a factor, so just need to chase well later on. I think we have done well as a batting unit, need to chip in and do the processes right,” Raina was quoted as saying during the toss.
In the 11 matches which Jadeja has played in IPL 2019, he has scored 76 runs at an average of 38 and a strike rate of 104.10. With the ball in hand, Jadeja had dismissed nine batsmen at an average of 29.44, an economy rate of 6.62 and a strike rate of 26.66.

#IPL2019 clash of the titans- @ChennaiIPL v/s @mipaltan, with #CSK winning the toss and putting #MI in to bat. @msdhoni not playing today along with #Jadeja. Finally @mvj888 gets a look in as a top order batsman.
