Wilfried Zaha Transfer: Crystal Palace attacker makes official statement over his Gunners move

Wilfried Zaha has said that he is solely focussing on African Cup of Nations, putting the transfer move on hold.

Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha has said that he is fully focussing on the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) when asked about Arsenal move. The Ivorian has been linked with a move to Gunners, but the Eagles are demanding exorbitant money – wanting £80 million for the attacker.

Since Unai Emery missed out on the Champions League football, he is keen to make severe reinforcements to boost the squad. The Spaniard is currently hoping to add at least a centre-back, left-back, and left winger in the transfer window, but they have a moderate transfer fee. Wilfried Zaha’s brother Judicael told about the Ivorian’s intention to leave Selhurst Park in the summer window.

Arsenal have released a £40 million offer, but it’s not going to suffice Palace’s demands. The Eagles have refused to budge for their star man, who put to paper until 2023 with the club last summer. Since the forward has four years in his contract left, the Gunners are struggling to land him – making it easier for Palace to stand firm with their decision.

The 26-year-old, who pledged his International future to Ivory Coast, was asked about a potential move to Arsenal in the mixed zone ahead of the Round of 16 clash against Mali.

Zaha refused to rule out a move to the Emirates Stadium and said: “I have no comment on it [Arsenal’s bid].

“The only thing that’s on my mind right now is trying to win this cup [Africa Cup of Nations].”

When asked whether he would like to be an Arsenal player, he added: “I don’t know. We’ll see in the future.”

The former Manchester United forward hit double figures in the goals and assists tally last season. He is one of many players to reach that landmark numbers in the league alone.

The Gunners do not have wing options through the left, and an offer for Zaha is totally coherent.

Here’s how Twitter has reacted..

What’s next?

Wilfried Zaha will be hoping to secure a move after the AFCON, but there are high possibilities of the Gunners falling short of Palace’s valuation.
