Will Sadio Mane play in Liverpool's first Premier League match against Norwich City

Will Sadio Mane play in Liverpool’s first match in the new Premier League season match against Norwich City, as he might sit on bench tonight.

Liverpool will play against Norwich City in the first match of the Premier League season campaign, as England’s top-flight league starts tonight at the Anfield.

The Reds are being considered as one of the favourites to win the league this season, and the front three of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah are the factors, which have made the Merseyside club strong enough to challenge for the league title.

However, with Liverpool set to start their campaign tonight, doubts over Sadio Mane’s appearance is rounding all over the media, whether the Senegalese International play tonight against the Canaries.

Mane was a crucial part of Senegal’s road to final in the African Cup of Nations, which they lost against Algeria last month. Thus, the 27-year-old forward finally got his holiday just two weeks before returning to Melwood earlier this week.

Now, he’s back and Klopp has been impressed with the player’s fitness, but it is still uncertain whether Mane will appear tonight, as he only had two days of training with the rest of the squad, and missed whole pre-season training with the squad.

“He had only two weeks off, so he didn’t lose a lot and that’s the good news,” said Klopp. “He looks fit. Yes, he is an option.”

“Yesterday was the first session with the team because Monday he came in about four o’clock or so when we’d already left and Tuesday the team was off and he had his individual session.

“Yes, he [was] now with the team for the first time and looks absolutely OK, in good spirits and looking forward to it. So, yes, he’s an option but we will see.” he further said.

Hence, Mane having a starting spot in tonight’s match will be a little far-fetched, and since Divock Origi has played well in his absence during the pre-season tour. The Belgian International will probably start tonight. Although, Mane would be in the squad, and might come off from the bench.
