Will Sebastian Vettel join Renault? Former teammate provides an update on F1 future
Will Sebastian Vettel join Renault? Former teammate of the German driver scraps the rumours of him joining Renault next season.
As soon as Sebastian Vettel announced his departure from Ferrari, there was a massive shuffling within the Formula 1 teams. Carlos Sainz was immediately signed by Ferrari from McLaren.
Making Daniel Ricciardo pounced on the opportunity of leaving Renault and the Australian driver was soon signed by McLaren as Sainz replacement.
As of now, only Esteban Ocon is listed as the driver of Renault for next season and the second berth is still vacant, thus Renault has been linked with several drivers including Vettel.
However, Vettel’s former teammate Mark Webber, who was with him in Red Bull for 5 seasons declines the possibility of Vettel joining the French outfit.
When asked about his former teammate’s future, Webber said, “ I don’t know where he can go, buddy. I really don’t know. I do not see Seb in midfield.
Most of the ratio of his career he has always been sniffing around podiums, apart from the first year at Toro Rosso in which he still won a race. So, I don’t see him at Renault at all. I see him, letting it flush out the back of 2021 and then have a bit of a look coming back.”
He further added, “He’s super young but it feels like he’s done. I wouldn’t be surprised if he stops but I really hope he doesn’t.” Webber is not the only one who thinks Vettel would not be there in F1 next season.
Even Gerhard Berger feels that viewers might not be able to watch Vettel in action next season. Realistically, even Renault needs some intense monetary investment to make things right.

Ricciardo’s move didn’t benefit them even though he is a talented driver, so before Renault makes a move for Vettel it has to upgrade the car quality.
