ischoffFor years, AEW has been seen as the number two to WWE. However, their recent feat is proof that they’ve come a long way since their first ever show, all the way back in 2018. AEW have sold over 60,000 tickets for All In at Wembley Stadium. What’s even more impressive is the fact that they’ve done so without having announced a single match on the card. Eric Bischoff, who usually criticizes the promotion, praised the company for their achievement. However, as usual, he found a way to somehow poke at Tony Khan once again.
AEW’s record ticket sales have once again led to WWE vs AEW argument on the internet, and the WWE Hall of Famer believes that Tony Khan is responsible for the online conflicts. In fact, he believes that the AEW President has even contributed to it as well.
Eric Bischoff praises AEW for “selling 60,000 tickets” before blaming Tony Khan for tribalism in wrestling
During a recent episode of his 83 Weeks podcast, Bischoff commended AEW for their achievement. He stated that he wasn’t surprised by their success and even predicted that they would do well. Bischoff also mentioned that there was no way to deny them their success. Even if it wasn’t translated into TV viewership.
“It’s an unmitigated success. There’s no way you can spin it, twist it, turn it any other way. It’s a huge, huge accomplishment… And the same week they’re announcing that phenomenal event turnout, they deliver 755,000 people on television.”
He then turned his attention to Tony Khan. He stated that his recent WWE outburst against an ESPN reporter where he took shots at Nick Khan was an example of how the AEW president was feeding the online war between fans of both promotions.
“To be fair, a lot of that tribalism is because of Tony Khan and some of the talent in AEW. They’re constantly taking shots at WWE.”
