Finn Balor on teaming up with AJ Styles. The former Bullet Club leaders have had very similar paths to the WWE and beyond.

Finn Balor was always a great wrestler. He made his mark in every promotion he wrestled for. However, he caught the WWE’s attention as the leader of Bullet Club during his run in NJPW. AJ Styles has always been a top performer. He adds immense value to any show he turns up in. However, his run as the leader of the Bullet Club was what would eventually seal a move to the WWE.

Styles was drafted to SmackDown and won the WWE Championship in less than a year with the company. Balor went to RAW and was crowned the inaugural Universal Champion on his first WWE PPV. Interestingly, for two characters to have so much in common, the WWE have severely restricted the interaction between the two characters.

AJ Styles, showed up as Finn Balor’s opponent on short notice when Bray Wyatt had to pull out of their clash at TLC in 2017. The two had an amazing showing and even shared a moment after the match.

Styles expressed his desire to team up with Balor, even going so far to suggest moving to NXT to make that happen. Balor showed interest in the pitch but didn’t seem to mind having a rematch with the Phenomenal One.

“Obviously, me and AJ have kind of a storied history,” Balor told CBS Sports. “We’ve always kind of crossed paths but never really interacted too much. When I went to Japan, he was in TNA, When I came to the U.S., he went to Japan. When I came to Raw, he went to SmackDown. So, we’ve always kind of missed each other outside of that one match we had, and that was sprung on us at the last minute. But we’ve got very similar paths and a lot of mutual friends.

“He’s someone I would love to not only tag with but be in the ring in some capacity. Whether it’s standing across the ring from him one-on-one or if it’s standing side-by-side, I think we would make a great tag team. Whether it’s in NXT, Raw or SmackDown, I would love to be in there with AJ.”

Archie is a WWE and UFC Editor/Author at the SportsRush. Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
